Grand Theft Auto is an action-adventure franchise developed by David Jones and Mike Dailly at DMA Design in 1997. Following the release of Grand Theft Auto 3 in 2001, DMA Design was rebranded Rockstar North and joined Take-Two Interactive’s label. The franchise primarily focuses on third–person shooting and driving in open settings inspired by real-world cities such as Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in 2013, and the series immediately became the sixth best–selling video game franchise of all time.
