You’ll need some Infernal Iron to accomplish this. Although Infernal Iron is a somewhat rare asset, we’ll go over where to locate it so that you can cool Karlach’s Infernal Engine in Baldur’s Gate 3!

Infernal Iron is one of the most elusive of the many valuable collectibles that players may find in the complex open world of Baldur’s Gate 3. This substance was first utilized in the Nine Hells to create powerful weaponry and machinery, and it now plays an exciting part in the game’s storyline.

Infernal Iron is essential to advancing her own personal quest and narrative, and is mostly used to gain favor with Karlach, the game’s scrappy Tiefling barbarian companion. It is difficult to locate, however, due to its rarity. This extensive resource will show you exactly where to look on the Sword Coast to locate this priceless metal.

What is Infernal Iron Bg3 used for

An essential part of Karlach’s companion quest is Infernal Iron. The Tiefling barbarian, as you may be aware, is a great fighter, but she may be a little hot at times due to her infernal engine. The engine is actually going into overdrive and will kill her unless you repair it with some of the rare metal, Infernal Iron, according to Dammon, the Tiefling smith in the centre of the Emerald Grove settlement.

You’ll have to find some and return to Dammon with a piece. Later in the tale, when he will have further answers to Karlach’s problem, he will instruct you to meet him in Baldur’s Gate after partially repairing Karlach. Dammon then reappears with the other Tieflings in act 2 at the Last Light Inn, where he will accept another chunk of Infernal Iron in order to completely repair Karlach.

It’s also important to remember that Dammon will depart for Baldur’s Gate if you save the Emerald Grove without speaking to him with Karlach and beginning the quest to find the Infernal Iron. After you raid the grove on the other side, you won’t be able to speak to Dammon or use Infernal Iron to repair Karlach.

Also, Stonemason Kith in the Grymforge buy Infernal Alloy, a metal with a unique function. Dammon at the Last Light Inn will create you the Flawed Helldusk Armour set if you bring this to him. This set gives fire damage to enemies that strike you. Although it has nothing to do with all of this Infernal Alloy stuff, you can obtain the appropriate Helldusk Armour later on in the game as a Legendary item.

How To Use Infernal Iron Bg3

Infernal Iron, the game’s Tiefling barbarian companion, is essential to advancing through Karlach’s storyline.

You will discover early on in your acquaintance with Karlach that her evil former “employers” have replaced her heart with an infernal engine, a piece of machinery driven by souls and hence, Soul Coins. But now that she’s out of the Hells, she doesn’t have an infernal mechanic to keep her engine running.

Fortunately, since Elturel was dragged into the Hells, you may have previously encountered Dammon, the Tiefling blacksmith in the Druid Grove who gained experience with infernal forging.

You can ask Dammon for help once you’ve learned about Karlach’s infernal engine. If you give him enough Infernal Iron to work with, he will be more than happy to service Karlach’s machinery.

Dammon’s availability will determine how Karlach’s storyline develops. In the event that Dammon dies in Act 1, you will have to temporarily hold Karlach’s questline.

But in Act 2, if he lives, you’ll locate Dammon at the Last Light Inn.

What to Do with Infernal Iron Bg3

To advance Karlach’s Hellion’s Heart quest or make the Flawed Helldusk Heavy Armor, players who have acquired enough Infernal Iron should go to Dammon, a Tiefling blacksmith.

For those who are unaware, this NPC is located in Act 1 at X:178 Y:563 (near the Emerald Grove) and in Act One at the Last Light Inn in Baldur’s Gate 3.

All Infernal Iron Bg3 Locations | Tellagraph.com

  10. Steel Watchers

Act 1: Blacksmith’s Workshop – Blighted Village

You’ll probably come across this Infernal Iron for the first time. The blacksmith’s workshop under the Blighted Village has a chest containing this.

There are several methods to enter this area: remove the calcified web from inside the workshop and jumping inside, use the locked doors at the Blighted Village Waypoint, or find your way down there from the Well and smash the cracked wall.

Finding the locked chest on a top shelf area and opening the lock will be your only task once you’re inside.

Another chunk of Infernal Iron may be found within the Goblin Hideout, or the Shattered Sanctum. Finding Dror Ragzlin in the back and locating his stockpile.

In order to get access to his stash, you can either murder him and take his key, loot his key, use the Knock spell, lockpick the door, or just smash through it. You can take the Infernal Iron and the other loot in his stockpile no matter how you enter.

Act 1: Zentarim Hideout

Zentarim Basement Infernal Iron Bg3 | Tellagraph.com
Zentarim Basement Infernal Iron Bg3 | Tellagraph.com

Another chunk of Infernal Iron may be discovered here if you’ve located the secret Zentarim Hideout next to Waukeen’s Rest. You’ll need to steal this one, so make sure to do it covertly or get ready for a brutal fight. This one is behind a closed fence at X:282, Y:167.

You’ll be confronted with two chests after you manage to go inside. We’ll only desire the one on the right, even if they’re both locked and confined. You can grab the Infernal Iron when you’ve successfully escaped the trap and lock.

Act 1: Stonemason Kith – Grymforge

Stonemason Kith Infernal Iron Bg3 | Tellagraph.com
Stonemason Kith Infernal Iron Bg3 | Tellagraph.com

It’s a little different this time. You may talk to Stonemason Kith, a Duergar, here after you’ve arrived in Grymforge and the Underdark. In order to obtain the Infernal Iron for free, you must pass three checks with DC 10 after he asks you a few questions about the stonework.

Because Shadowheart is skilled in both History and Perception, you have the highest chance of succeeding in all three. For this reason, we advise using her. For 200g, you can purchase the Infernal Iron from Kith even if you are unsuccessful at all three. Also, you may always kill Kith and loot items from his corpse.

Act 2: Mason’s Guild, Reithwin Town – Shadow Cursed Lands

Another chunk of Infernal Iron may be found in Act 2, after you reach the Shadow Cursed Lands. At X:105 and Y:18, this one will just be sitting in the Overworld. To freely wander through the Shadow Curse, you will need to advance the story a bit. Once you are able to do so and reach Reithwin Town, you can capture this one.

Act 2: Balthazar’s Vault – Gauntlet of Shar

During the main story, you will come upon a sealed Vault Door outside of Balthazar’s laboratory as you make your way through the Gauntlet of Shar.

We strongly advise using Astarion to pick the lock or the second level Sorcerer/Wizard spell “Knock” to unlock the Vault Door, which requires a DC check of 30. There will be three opulent chests inside the vault, each containing goods, but the middle chest will have an additional piece of infernal iron.

Act 2: Yurgir – Gauntlet of Shar

Yurgir Gauntlet Of Shar Infernal Iron Bg3 | Tellagraph.com

Inside the Gauntlet of Shar, the Orthon Yurgir’s corpse may be looted to find the last piece of Infernal Iron. Yurgir may be found inside the Gauntlet, close to the finish of the trials, and hidden away at X:-660, Y:-760. Yurgir has a connection to the “Kill Raphael’s Old Enemy” quest as well.

To take the Iron, you must fight and kill him. Violence is the only solution since he won’t give you the Iron if you let him go. You have a few dialogue choices to lighten the blow until you ambush him, but you will still have to deal with a tough boss in any case.

Act 3: Flymm Cargo

in Flymm’s Cargo’s basement, which is accessible from the Lower City sewers or by a hatch hidden behind crates in the warehouse. In the Machine Parts Storage area, the hellish iron is lying on the ground.

Act 3: Iron Throne

The submersible that transports you to the Iron Throne has a piece of infernal iron on a table in the dock room.

Act 3: Steel Watchers

Many large Steel Watcher robots that monitor the streets in Act 3’s Lower City can be looted for Infernal Iron and Enriched Infernal Iron.

To blow up the Steel Watch Foundry, you’ll need to battle a good number of them, but once you do, all the Steel Watchers in the game will fall, allowing you to take whatever Infernal Iron they may have.
